Mural Project:

A YEAR ROUND GARDEN--COMMUNITY PRIDE

"The Garden Mural meets the approval of most Elliot Park residents:

"It's great; it adds so much color to the neighborhood," says Cecile Bedor, a member of the Central Community Housing Trust, which owns the apartment building that overlooks the mural.

Joseph says residents began to admire the mural even before it was finished.  "They all thought it was done.  I'd show up to start painting and they'd be taking pictures of it.  I'd have to say 'it's not done yet."

An exhibition that documented the mural's creation from start of public input to the day the artist signed will be on display at the Minneapolis Public Library's Downtown branch on Nicollet Mall."

Recognizing that the community garden and its mural makes the area a better place to live, walk, drive, and work in, Elliot Park now proudly advertises itself as the garden neighborhood.
